Ambient Listening Technology

The State anticipates funding will be available in Year 2 of the Kansas Rural Health Transformation Plan (RHTP) for rural Kansas providers to implement and sustain selected ambient listening technology (ALT).  The State has contracted with the UKHS Care Collaborative Association (CCA) to manage this program.

Successful applicants will receive funds to reimburse costs incurred under an approved contract with one of the selected ALT vendors for a one-year period. (KDHE intends to seek Year 3 RHTP funding to extend reimbursement to a second one-year period for successful applicants.) Vendors will be selected by the Emerging Technology Committee based on interoperability, functionality, ease of implementation, and cost following a competitive process.

Hospitals and ambulatory care providers located in rural Kansas that utilize an electronic health record are eligible for ALT funding.   Providers using Oracle Health CommunityWorks are not eligible for this round of funding because they previously received funds to implement and sustain Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent.

To be considered for funding, a provider must submit a completed application by 5:00 pm CDT on October 30, 2026. The application portal is available here.

CCA anticipates there will be sufficient funds to make ALT available to all eligible applicants.  If, however, funds are not sufficient, applicants will be prioritized based on rurality and provider type. This selection criteria will be discussed during the webinar.

An informational webinar was held on October 13, 2026. A recording of that 45-minute webinar is available on the CCA's Learning Management System. The PowerPoint from the webinar is available here.
